Nason.  Robert Frost's First Book of Poetry, A Boy's Will, contains 30 of the Poet's earliest and best poems, including "Into My Own," "Ghost House," "My November Guest," "Love and a Question," "A Late Walk," "Storm Fear," "To the Thawing Wind," "A Prayer in Spring," "Mowing," "The Tuft of Flowers," "Reluctance" and Robert Frost's very first commercially published poem (for $5) in The Independent of November 8, 1894, "My Butterfly."  First published in England in 1913, this book helped to establish Robert Frost's reputation as a First-Class Poet not only in England, but in America as well.  Robert Frost was eventually awarded a record-breaking total of Four Pulitzer Prizes in Poetry for his poems.  THIS IS A PRESENTATION COPY INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY THE POET ON THE BLANK FRONT FREE ENDPAPER WITH THE FIRST STANZA OR FIRST FOUR LINES OF THE AUTOGRAPH MANUSCRIPT POEM, "THE PASTURE," WITH HIS TYPICAL FOUNTAIN-PEN-AND-BLACK-INK SIGNATURE, AND IN HIS UNIQUE AND INIMITABLE HANDWRITING: I'M GOING OUT TO CLEAN THE PASTURE SPRING I'LL ONLY STOP TO RAKE THE LEAVES AWAY AND WAIT TO WATCH THE WATER CLEAR I MAY I SHANT BE GONE LONG.  YOU COME TOO                                           ROBERT FROST       FOR DAVID POSNER These four lines of poetry consist of the first stanza of the two-stanza poem, "The Pasture," which was first published by Frost as a prologue to his second book of poetry, North of Boston, and later used as the prologue to the poet's Collected and Selected editions of Frost's poetry.  As stated in Jeffrey Cramer's Robert Frost Among His Poems, "The Pasture" was written in 1910 according to Frost when the Frost family lived in Derry, New Hampshire and there were two small pastures to the west of the Frost Farm that were visible from the large bay window at the front of the house.  There are about eight differences -- primarily in punctuation -- between this Handwritten Copy and the poem as it appeared in North of Boston.  This is a Fine Autographed First Illustrated Edition Copy in nice, tight, clean and extremely collectible condition without any previous owners' bookplates or ink inscriptions or markings of any kind in a slightly chipped and soiled else Very Good illustrated and printed dust jacket.  Copies of Autograph Manuscript Poems Signed by Robert Frost in the Poet's First Book of Poetry in this unusually Fine condition are extremely rare and highly desirable.  Additional pictures are available upon request.  FREE POSTAGE & INSURANCE IN THE U.S.  Foreign buyers should contact me before buying.     Powered by eBay Turbo ListerThe free listing tool.
