Description
New Arrivals All Auctions Rare Book Auctions Original Poster Auctions Title: The Plant. Part 1 and Part 2 (Signed). Author: KING, Stephen. Bangor, Maine: Philtrum Press, 1982 and 1983. First edition, Quarto, Original green wrappers. Each a fine copy. Unusual serialized tale, which begins in a paperback publishing house, where an editor receives an interesting manuscript from a strange little man. The editor rejects the work, thus setting-off a revealing and frightening chain of events. Designer proofs of two of the three parts of King's unfinished serial novel, each limited to 200 copies, which the author gave as Christmas presents to friends. Part 1 (32 pages) was printed in November 1982 and is designated "- designer's proof - M.H.A." with the initials M.H.A. presumably belonging to designer, Michael Alpert. Part 2 (36 pages) was printed in 1983 and is also designated "- designer's proof -" though without the initials. Original green wrappers with black titles on front cover, printed on Fabriano Ingres paper, with a hand-sewn binding. Part one of this two part offering is SIGNED by King on the front free endpaper and dated 6/3/83. Both being fine copies, with just the slightest of expected creasing to the extreme edges of the covers. Two very scarce and highly desirable volumes from an edition limited and presented to friends by the master of horror himself!.
